The Whole Point of Hiring a Cleaning Service (and What Goes Wrong)
You're catching the Metra home from work to La Grange, and the last thing you want to think about is whether your cleaning company is going to show up this week.
This guide ranks 13 cleaning services serving La Grange so you can stop guessing.
In La Grange, people don't just pick the top Google ad. Neighbors talk. Nextdoor gets checked. The question isn't "who has the best rating?" but "who's already parked on your street every other Thursday?" That "vetted by neighbors" mindset is the whole point. You want someone local, good with older homes, and someone you'd actually trust with a house key.

"The most expensive cleaning service is the one you have to hire twice."
A Home Cleaning Nightmare Nobody Talks About
Here's the thing. You hire a company based on a solid Google rating. First clean is decent. Then it unravels:
- A few visits in, things aren't getting done. You text the company. No response for two days.
- You reschedule. They cancel with 4 hours notice.
- A different crew shows up, doesn't know your home, misses the rooms you care about most.
- You notice a scratch on your original hardwood floor. You call the company. They say it was pre-existing.
- You ask for proof of insurance. Silence.
This happens more than you'd think. A dissolved corporation claiming to be "licensed, bonded, and insured." A franchise location marked "Closed" on Yelp that still accepts quote requests. A 2.40-star gap between Google and Yelp. These aren't edge cases. They're patterns.
At the end of the day, the math always works out: a reliable cleaning company at $52/hour that shows up, does the job right, and responds when you call is cheaper than a $40/hour company that cancels twice, damages your floors, and ghosts when you need them.
What We Found When We Dug In to These La Grange Cleaning Companies
One house cleaning company serving La Grange has a dissolved Illinois business registration. They claim to be "licensed, bonded, and insured" on two separate websites. A dissolved corporation cannot legally hold any of those in Illinois. This cleaning service also has 8 separate Google Business listings with different phone numbers.
Another La Grange area maid service operates on a dissolved corporation while displaying a BBB "Accredited Business" badge on its homepage. The BBB actually shows a D+ rating. The same company claims "In Business since 2014," but Illinois records show it was incorporated in 2024 and dissolved 17 months later.
One franchise cleaning company near La Grange lists three different owner names across three platforms, has a Yelp listing marked "Closed," and the location page still accepts quote requests. Nobody knows who actually operates it.
This is why star ratings alone don't tell the full story. We built a Trust Score system based on verified business registration, insurance documentation, owner accountability, BBB complaint records, and review consistency across platforms. The higher the Trust Score, the lower your chance of wasting time and money with a high-risk provider.
How We Scored Every La Grange Area Cleaning Service
In other words, not all 4.9-star ratings are created equal. We developed a weighted Trust Score system that goes beyond surface-level metrics to evaluate what actually matters when someone is entering your home.
| Factor | Max Points | Why It Matters |
|---|---|---|
| Insurance, Bonding, and Background Checks | 2.0 | Heaviest weight. This is physical safety in your home. Verified COI with specific amounts scores highest. Unverified website claims score lower. No mention at all scores zero. |
| Cross-Platform Trust | 1.5 | Are they consistent across Google, Yelp, BBB, and Nextdoor? We measure platform breadth, rating consistency, and Nextdoor engagement depth. A company with 1,000 Google reviews but a B- BBB and zero Nextdoor presence has one big bucket with holes in it. |
| Google Reviews (Rating and Volume) | 1.5 | Largest review platform. Rating and review count scored separately. |
| BBB Profile and Complaint Record | 1.5 | A+ with reviews, zero complaints, and a Complaint Free Award is the standard. Unanswered complaints are a major red flag. |
| Owner Identification and Accountability | 1.5 | Can you identify the person responsible, and do they respond when things go wrong? Full name, in service area, responsive to negative reviews on all platforms earns full marks. |
| Yelp Reviews (Rating and Volume) | 1.0 | Yelp filters aggressively, which makes it harder to game. Strong Yelp numbers mean something. |
| IL Secretary of State Registration | 1.0 | Active, current registration proves legal existence. Dissolved means zero, and the company cannot legally hold insurance or bonding in Illinois. |
| Total | 10.0 |
We scored every company using publicly verifiable data. You can check every data point yourself using Google, Yelp, BBB.org, Nextdoor, and the Illinois Secretary of State Business Entity Search.
Why Cross-Platform Trust Matters More Than Star Ratings
Any company can accumulate a 4.8 on Google. We wanted to know who's consistent across Google, Yelp, BBB, and Nextdoor, because each platform has different audiences, different filtering, and different incentives. Consistency across all four is hard to fake.
Two cleaning services in this comparison have a 2.40-star gap between Google and Yelp. That's not noise, that's a pattern. On the other end, only one company, Sophia's Cleaning Service, has strong ratings across all four platforms plus both Nextdoor faves and written neighbor recommendations. One La Grange area cleaning company has 38 Nextdoor faves but zero neighbors willing to actually write a recommendation. Passive recognition is not the same as active endorsement.

Established Local: Real owners, verifiable infrastructure, consistent cross-platform performance. Volume Player: High review counts but quality control gaps across platforms. Franchise: National brand, local franchisee who may or may not survive. Unverified: Dissolved corporations, dormant pages, suspicious review patterns, or businesses that fail basic legitimacy checks.

How to Read This Table
G/Y Gap: The difference between a company's Google and Yelp star ratings. A gap over 1.0 can signal filtered or incentivized Google reviews. Yelp's algorithm is harder to manipulate, so a large gap is worth paying attention to.
Nextdoor key: "Faves" are one-click endorsements. "Recs" are written recommendations from verified neighbors. Faves show general recognition, while recs carry more weight because a neighbor chose to write about their experience.

- 530+ reviews and recommendations across Google, Yelp, BBB, and Nextdoor at 4.9 average. 100% owner response rate to negative reviews across all platforms.

- IJCSA Master Green Cleaning Certified (highest level). 99.6% first-time satisfaction rate based on multi-year CRM data.
Cons
- Older Yelp negatives from 2011-2015 during generational transition. All addressed, all responded to, but they happened.
- No carpet shampooing, exterior windows, biohazard cleanup, or laundry.
- We deducted 0.5 points for those older negatives from 2011 to 2015.
We're the ones writing this, so we're leading with our own data, both the good and the bad, to remain objective in our analysis.
What 41 Years Actually Looks Like
We're not going to pretend 41 years has been spotless. It hasn't. Sophia's Cleaning Service started in 1984 under our founder, Sophia Borek. Over four decades, the business has been through generational handoffs, leadership changes, and periods where the service wasn't where it needed to be. If you go back through our 2011-2015 Yelp reviews, you'll find complaints. Some of them are fair. We own that history. Every one has been responded to, and every client was either refunded, given a free reclean, or we found another way to make it right.
What changed is that Andre, Carol, and Laura took over active management, rebuilt the team, overhauled the vetting process, invested in systems like CompanyCam documentation and our 56-Point Checklist, and got IJCSA Master Green Cleaning Certified at the highest level. The results show up in the data. Our review velocity has been accelerating: 92 reviews in 2024, 157 in 2025 (up 70%), and already 73 across all platforms in the first three months of 2026. That's the opposite of what happens when a company is coasting.
We've never been perfect. But 41 years means we've weathered storms that would have killed a franchise location in 3 years, and we came out the other side better for it. A franchise can recycle a territory and start fresh with a new name. We can't. Every review, good or bad, stays attached to the same business and the same family. That's accountability you can't fake.
Sophia's Cleaning Service Reviews by Platform

2026 velocity: 73 new reviews across all platforms in Q1 2026 alone (50 Google, 4 Yelp, 9 BBB, 10 Nextdoor). 49 of 50 Google reviews are five-star (one is a 3-star that we will be revisiting soon to turn into a 5-star). That's more reviews in three months than half the companies in this comparison have earned in their entire existence (as of March 31, 2026).

Helping Hands Cleaning Services Worth Considering
View platform breakdown
Pros
- Highest review volume in the entire comparison: 1,040 Google reviews at 4.92 stars with a 96.6% five-star rate and only 1.2% one-star. That volume is real.
- Active IL Secretary of State registration since 1997 (nearly 30 years). ISSA and ARCSI industry memberships. Physical address in Elmhurst, about 6 miles from La Grange.
- 89.1% overall owner response rate on Google. "200% Satisfaction Guarantee" advertised on the website.
Cons
- B- BBB rating (lowest of any registered company in this comparison), NOT accredited. Two 1-star reviews describe scheduling runarounds and deposit disputes. One unanswered complaint involves a theft allegation with a police report. The business never responded to the complaint.
- Four theft allegations across three platforms (Yelp, Google, BBB) within roughly the same 2023 timeframe. All four are unanswered by the business. This is the most theft allegations for any company in this comparison.
- Selective response pattern: 89.1% owner response rate on Google drops to 22.5% on Yelp. On Google, 44% of negative reviews are unanswered. When a company chooses which platforms to show up on and which to ignore, that's a leadership decision.
- Google/Yelp gap of 1.19 stars (4.92 vs. 3.73). One-star rate is 1.2% on Google but 20.2% on Yelp, a 19x difference. The two platforms tell very different stories about the same company.
- Review velocity collapsed roughly 90%: from 328 Google reviews in 2023 to 43 in 2025 and 8 through March 2026. In 2025 alone, Sophia's earned 157 Google reviews while Helping Hands earned 43. In Q1 2026: Sophia's has 50, Helping Hands has 8. The trajectories are going in opposite directions.
- Recently launched a separate commercial cleaning branch and website, splitting focus between residential and commercial operations. When a company spreads into new verticals while its residential review velocity is declining, that's a resource allocation signal worth watching.
The Volume vs. Accountability Problem
Helping Hands is the 800-pound gorilla of Chicago-area cleaning. Over a thousand Google reviews at 4.92 stars. Nearly three decades in business. ISSA and ARCSI memberships. On paper, by raw volume, this looks like the clear winner.
Here's the thing about running a cleaning company at that volume: customer complaints, including allegations of damage or missing items, are almost inevitable. Items get misplaced during cleaning. Kids blame the cleaning crew. Other contractors working in the home move things. After 1,000+ cleanings a year for nearly three decades, situations will come up. That's not what separates good companies from bad ones.

What separates them is how they respond. And Helping Hands has a pattern of selective engagement. Their Google owner response rate is 89.1%, but on Yelp it drops to 22.5%. Their BBB rating is B- with a complaint that went unanswered. When a company chooses which platforms to show up on and which to ignore, that's not a technology problem. That's a leadership decision.
The timing of the velocity collapse is worth noting. Helping Hands recently launched a separate commercial cleaning branch with its own website, splitting focus between residential and commercial operations. When a company expands into new verticals while its residential review velocity is dropping from 328 to 8, that raises the question of where the attention is going. In 2025, Sophia's earned 157 Google reviews to Helping Hands' 43. In Q1 2026, the gap widened further: 50 to 8. Quality tends to taper off when a company tries to be everything to everyone.
Helping Hands Ratings Across Platforms
- Google: 1,040 reviews at 4.92 stars. 96.6% five-star, 1.2% one-star. 89.1% overall owner response rate (but 44% of negatives unanswered).
- Yelp: 89 reviews at 3.73 stars. 52.8% five-star, 20.2% one-star. 22.5% owner response rate. Only 2 Yelp reviews in the last 15 months.
- BBB: B- rated, NOT accredited. 2 one-star reviews: one describes months of scheduling runarounds (told November full, December full, then January full), the other a $200 deposit dispute on a move-out that was never refunded. 1 unanswered complaint (theft with police report).
- Nextdoor: 38 faves but 0 written recommendations. Passive recognition, no one willing to put their name behind an endorsement.
Google/Yelp gap: 1.19 stars. One of the widest in this comparison. The one-star rate is 19x higher on Yelp than Google. The company clearly prioritizes Google review management and largely abandons Yelp.
Velocity comparison: In 2025, Sophia's earned 157 Google reviews while Helping Hands earned 43. In Q1 2026, Sophia's has earned 50 Google reviews (49 five-star) while Helping Hands has earned 8. Helping Hands peaked at 328 Google reviews in 2023. Now they're on pace for roughly 32 in 2026. The trajectories are going in opposite directions.
Helping Hands Service Options
Their BBB profile lists 15 business categories: house cleaning, carpet and rug cleaning, window cleaning, commercial cleaning, tile and grout cleaning, janitor service, post-construction cleaning, upholstery cleaning, floor cleaning, furniture cleaning, smoke odor counteracting, sanitation consulting, odor neutralizers, and deodorizing. They also recently launched a separate commercial cleaning brand and website. "200% Satisfaction Guarantee." ISSA and ARCSI industry memberships.
That's a lot of verticals for one company. For context, most residential cleaning companies in this comparison focus on house cleaning and maybe move-in/out. When the service list expands to include smoke odor counteracting, sanitation consulting, and janitor service alongside residential house cleaning, the "master of none" question is fair to ask, especially when review velocity is declining at the same time.
Best Maids Worth Considering
View platform breakdown
Pros
- Active IL Secretary of State registration since 2001 (25 years) with current annual report filed May 2025. One of the longest-operating independents in this comparison.
- A+ BBB rating. Claims employees (not subcontractors), uniformed teams of two, insured, licensed, and bonded. Eco-friendly products and HEPA vacuums.
- 71 Google reviews at 4.5 stars with an 83% five-star rate. Also has 240 Angi reviews at 5.0, which we didn't factor into the Trust Score but is worth noting.
- Consumers' Checkbook data: 69 ratings with 59% "superior" marks and prices 7% below average for the category.

Cons
- Owner not publicly identified on any consumer-facing platform. The IL SOS registered agent is a tax company in Mokena. For a 25-year-old business, that level of anonymity is a choice, and it cost them 1.5 points in our Owner Identification factor.
- Zero owner responses to any of 18 Yelp reviews. Not one. On Google, the response rate is 55%, the lowest among companies with 50+ reviews in this comparison. Zero responses to 3- and 4-star Google reviews.
- 11.3% one-star rate on Google. One in nine reviews is one star. Negative themes include scheduling no-shows, management rudeness (a 4-year customer named a specific general manager as "rude and unprofessional"), and service area misrepresentation.
- Declining review velocity: peaked at 17 Google reviews in 2021, dropped to 4 in all of 2025. Compare that to Sophia's 50 Google reviews in just Q1 2026.
- HQ is in Orland Park, roughly 20 miles south of La Grange. Their La Grange page exists but it's a thin template. This is not their core market.
The Numbers Behind 5.5
Best Maids is a legitimate 26-year-old local cleaning company. They have real employees, eco-friendly products, and a track record that goes back to 1999. The 240 Angi reviews at 5.0 stars suggest a real customer base beyond what shows up on Google and Yelp. We want to be fair about that.
The concerns are about trajectory and accountability. Review velocity peaked in 2021 and has been declining since. Only 4 Google reviews in all of 2025. The negative reviews describe a pattern: scheduling no-shows, a long-term customer publicly naming a general manager for rudeness, and a case where a reviewer was told on the phone they don't serve his area despite the website listing it.
The ownership invisibility is the biggest factor. No owner name on the website, no owner name on Google, no owner name on Yelp. The IL SOS agent is a tax company. When you're hiring someone to spend hours inside your home, knowing who's accountable matters. Every other top-five company in this comparison has at least one named owner or operator.
Best Maids Reviews by Platform
- Google: 71 reviews at 4.5 stars. 83.1% five-star, 11.3% one-star, 0% two-star. Polarized distribution with almost nothing in between.
- Yelp: 18 reviews at 3.8 stars. 61.1% five-star, 27.8% one-star. Zero owner responses to any review, ever.
- BBB: A+ rated but not accredited. Zero reviews, zero complaints. The A+ with zero engagement suggests the rating is algorithmic, not earned through customer interaction.
- Nextdoor: No presence found.
- Angi: 240 reviews at 5.0 stars (not factored into Trust Score).
Google/Yelp gap: 0.75 stars. Moderate gap. Not a red flag on its own, but combined with the 0% Yelp response rate, it suggests Best Maids treats Yelp as a platform they've chosen to ignore rather than engage with.
What Best Maids Offers
Residential house cleaning. Website claims employees (not subcontractors), uniformed teams, insured, licensed, bonded, HEPA vacuums, and eco-friendly products. 100% satisfaction guarantee. Service area covers Chicago's western and southern suburbs.
MaidPro La Grange Below Average

Pros
- Real physical office in La Grange proper, same zip code. Named local owners (Jess and Rick Hardt) displayed on the website. This is a genuine local presence, not a service area claim from 20 miles away.
- 49-Point Checklist documented room-by-room with interactive tabs on their website. Second only to Sophia's 56-Point Checklist among competitors in this comparison.
- No theft allegations across any platform. Individual cleaners praised by name in reviews: Luz, Karina, Theresa, Mia (Yelp, Christian era) and Asia, Tish, Evelyn (Google, current era).
- "Sunset Promise" (response before end of business day). $75 off new customer promotion. Flexible payment options including Zelle and Venmo alongside credit cards.
Cons
- Current ownership entity (HARDT OAK PARK LLC) was organized November 25, 2024, making it less than 5 months old. The assumed business name "MAIDPRO LAGRANGE" is marked INACTIVE on the IL Secretary of State website. This franchise has had at least 3 different owners since 2016.
- 90% MaidPro failure rate across Illinois. 9 of 10 MaidPro franchise locations in IL have been dissolved or terminated, including 4 that all shut down on the same day (March 8, 2022). The previous "MaidPro LaGrange" entity also failed in this exact territory.
- All 2026 reviews across both platforms are negative. Google: Sara Brunson (1-star, triple cancellation, "WORST customer service," Ron named as unprofessional). Yelp: three 1-star reviews describing the same cancellation pattern, incomplete cleaning for a late-stage lupus patient (only dusting, no mopping or vacuuming), and a first-time customer whose house was "not clean" after service.
- Owner response rate: 21.4% on Google (3 of 14) and 4.5% on Yelp (1 of 22). Combined, that's 4 responses out of 36 total reviews (11%). For comparison, The Cleaning Authority responds to 96.5% of Google reviews.
- Five property damage incidents documented on Yelp: cherry wood dressers damaged by wrong cleaning product, broken collectible items, lost house key not reported for two weeks (January 2024), and product misuse causing furniture damage. No theft allegations.
- No BBB listing exists. Only 36 total reviews across Google and Yelp in 7+ years of operation. 7 of 14 Google reviews posted in a 10-day window in November 2023, suggesting a possible launch campaign rather than organic growth.
The Franchise Turnover Problem
MaidPro La Grange is our most direct local competitor. Same city, same zip code, on LaGrange Road itself. During the "Christian era" (2016-2021), this was a genuinely well-run operation. Multiple reviewers praised Christian by name for hands-on quality control, same-day follow-up calls, and flexibility with special requests. The positive reviews from that period are real.

The problem is that Christian is no longer running it. Since then, the franchise has changed hands at least twice. Patricia W. responded as "Business Owner" in 2024. Then Jess and Rick Hardt took over via a new LLC organized in November 2024. The reviews track exactly with the ownership changes: positive during the Christian years, negative under the new management. All three 2026 Yelp reviews describe cancellations, incomplete work, and poor communication.
This is the core risk with franchise cleaning companies. When the owner who built the reputation leaves, the cleaners, training, and customer relationships all reset. The brand name stays the same, but the people behind it are different. For recurring cleaning, where you're giving someone your house key and trusting the same crew month after month, that continuity matters.
The 90% Failure Rate
An Illinois Secretary of State search for "MaidPro" reveals 10 franchise filings. 9 are dissolved or terminated. MaidPro Oak Park (dissolved twice under the same owner), MaidPro Aurora, MaidPro Lake Zurich, MaidPro Arlington Heights, and four locations (Joliet, Lockport, Oak Brook, Oak Park) that all terminated on the same day, March 8, 2022, under the same registered agent. That's one multi-location franchise owner who shut down all four at once.
The current entity name is "Hardt Oak Park LLC," which suggests MaidPro Oak Park may be their primary location with La Grange as a secondary market. The principal address on the LLC is in Louisville, Kentucky. If Jess and Rick succeed, great. But the pattern says 9 out of 10 MaidPro franchise owners in Illinois haven't.
MaidPro La Grange Reviews by Platform
- Google: 14 reviews at 4.7 stars. 92.9% five-star, 7.1% one-star. Zero middle-ground reviews. 7 of 14 reviews posted in a 10-day window (November 17-27, 2023). Owner response rate: 21.4%.
- Yelp: 22 reviews at 3.6 stars. 59.1% five-star, 31.8% one-star. 15 additional reviews filtered by Yelp's algorithm. Owner response rate: 4.5% (1 of 22). All 2026 reviews are negative. Positive reviews cluster in the 2014-2021 period under Christian's management.
- BBB: No listing exists on BBB.org.
- Nextdoor: No presence found.
Google/Yelp gap: 1.1 stars. Both platforms show the same polarized pattern: five-star or one-star with nothing in between. The November 2023 Google cluster (7 reviews in 10 days, all five-star) inflates the Google average. Remove that cluster and you're looking at 7 reviews over the remaining 2+ years.
The Cleaning Authority (La Grange) Below Average

Pros
- Named, involved franchise owners. Scott Young handles in-home estimates and is personally referenced in dozens of Google reviews. BJ Young conducts quality inspections after cleanings. This level of owner involvement is uncommon for a franchise operation.
- 227 Google reviews at 4.8 stars with 87.2% five-star rate and a 96.5% owner response rate, one of the highest in the comparison. Review velocity is healthy: 50 Google reviews in 2025 and 20 through March 2026.
- Detail-Clean Rotation System (trademarked cleaning methodology). 19+ individual cleaners named by customers across reviews. Active IL SOS registration (FOUR YOUNGS INCORPORATED, annual report filed March 2026).
- Clean theft record. No theft allegations found across any platform. MyTCA app for scheduling. "Fully bonded and insured" claimed on the website (no specific amounts disclosed).
Cons
- Most extreme Google/Yelp gap in the entire comparison: 2.40 stars (4.8 Google vs. 2.4 Yelp). On Yelp, 64.3% of reviews are 1-star with zero middle-ground ratings. The two platforms describe two different companies.
- Six property damage incidents in 14 Yelp reviews (43% damage rate). Scratched furniture and cabinets from cleaning rags with tags still attached. A broken pearl seashell jar that the cleaner reassembled to conceal the damage. Permanent etching on Carrara marble countertops ($1,200+ repair, insurance claim unresolved after 6 months). An iPhone charger vacuumed and shredded, never disclosed by the cleaner.
- Yelp owner response rate of 14.3% (2 of 14 reviews) compared to 96.5% on Google. On Google, 0% of 3-star reviews and only 60% of 1-star reviews got responses. The selective engagement pattern mirrors Helping Hands: active on Google, absent on Yelp.
- Multiple Yelp reviewers describe a gap between the initial sales experience and what the cleaning crew actually delivers. The in-home estimate process gets consistent praise, but some customers felt the execution didn't match the expectations set during the walkthrough.
- No BBB listing exists. No Nextdoor presence. Office is in Westmont (not La Grange), in the same building as The Maids franchise (Suite 301 vs. Suite 315). Franchise pricing reported at $72/hour by a Google reviewer.
The 2.40-Star Gap
The Cleaning Authority has the most extreme platform divergence of any company in this comparison. On Google: 4.8 stars, 227 reviews, 96.5% owner response rate. On Yelp: 2.4 stars, 14 reviews, 14.3% owner response rate. That's a 2.40-star gap, and the Yelp ratings are binary: 5 stars or 1 star, nothing in between.
The positive Google reviews are real. Scott and BJ are genuinely involved owners who show up, do walk-throughs, and respond to almost every review. Dozens of customers name them personally. The 19+ cleaners named across reviews (Paige, Nora, Kayla, Dennis, Heather, Keasha, and others) show real teams with real people.

The Yelp complaints are also real. Six of 14 Yelp reviewers describe property damage. Two describe concealment: a broken jar reassembled so the customer wouldn't notice, and a shredded phone charger never disclosed. Some reviewers also noted a gap between the initial estimate experience and the actual cleaning quality. All three 2025 Yelp reviews are negative.
Both stories can be true at the same time. A franchise can have mostly satisfied customers and still have a pattern of property damage and quality gaps that show up on the platform where the owner isn't actively managing the narrative.
The Cleaning Authority Ratings by Platform
- Google: 227 reviews at 4.8 stars. 87.2% five-star, 2.2% one-star. 96.5% overall owner response rate (drops to 60% for 1-star and 0% for 3-star reviews).
- Yelp: 14 reviews at 2.4 stars. 64.3% one-star, 35.7% five-star. 14.3% owner response rate. All positive Yelp reviews are from 2020-2021. All 2025 reviews are negative.
- BBB: No listing exists on BBB.org.
- Nextdoor: No presence found.
Google/Yelp gap: 2.40 stars. The widest in this comparison. The one-star rate on Yelp (64.3%) is 29x the Google rate (2.2%). This isn't a small difference explained by sample size. It's the most dramatic platform split in the entire analysis.
The Cleaning Authority Services and Pricing
House cleaning, apartment/condo, move-in/move-out, one-time, commercial/office, basement, after-remodeling, home disinfection, oven cleaning, refrigerator cleaning. Detail-Clean Rotation System (trademarked). "Fully bonded and insured" claimed on the website, but no specific insurance amounts disclosed. Franchise pricing: $72/hour reported by a Google reviewer for a 4,000 sq ft deep clean, compared to Sophia's average of $52/hour. 15 cities served across the western suburbs.
Euro Maids Below Average
View platform breakdown
Pros
- Active IL Secretary of State registration since 2000 (26+ years, originally as "Euro Quality Services, Inc."). Annual report filed March 28, 2026. Real longevity.
- 95% Google owner response rate, the highest of any company in this comparison. Someone is paying attention to the Google profile.
- 76 Google reviews at 4.5 stars with an 85.5% five-star rate. Named cleaners Lena, Victor, Maria, and Yuri praised in positive reviews. Recent velocity is strong: 27 Google reviews in 2025, 13 through March 2026.
- A+ BBB rating (not accredited, zero reviews). Claims 100% satisfaction guarantee. Residential, commercial, move-in/out, deep cleaning, and rental cleaning services.

Cons
- 2.1 Yelp stars from 46 reviews, the worst Yelp rating in the entire comparison. 67.4% of Yelp reviews are one-star. An additional 28 reviews are filtered by Yelp's algorithm, and the math shows those filtered reviews average roughly 1.0 stars.
- Google/Yelp gap of 2.40 stars (tied with The Cleaning Authority for the widest in this comparison). 53% of all Google reviews arrived in the last 15 months for a company claiming 26+ years of operation. That velocity surge is unusual.
- Owner (Zenoviy Miklyukh) not identified on the website, Google, or Yelp. Consumers have no idea who runs the company. The Yelp owner responses (signed by "Uliana M.") are defensive in tone and frequently dispute customer accounts rather than resolving problems.
- Property damage pattern across both platforms: hole in fiberglass bathtub (company denied responsibility), broken ceiling fan paddle ($50 promised but never paid), bleach stains on carpet (company charged customer $150 to fix), broken decorative items concealed instead of reported. Three vague theft mentions on Yelp.
- Running Groupon deals. Both major Google damage claims are tied to promotional/discount customers. "Surface-only cleaning" is the number one complaint across both platforms: deep cleans that aren't deep.
The Two-Platform Problem
Euro Maids has been around since 2000 and responds to almost every Google review. On paper, this should be a solid mid-tier company. The 76 Google reviews at 4.5 stars reflect real satisfied customers, and the named cleaners (Lena, Victor, Maria, Yuri) show a core team that does good work when matched to the right homes.
Then you look at Yelp. 2.1 stars from 46 reviews, with 28 additional filtered reviews that average roughly 1.0 stars. That's potentially 74 Yelp interactions, the vast majority negative. The complaints span the full 26-year history: surface-only cleaning, property damage with denied or unfulfilled resolution, bait-and-switch pricing, crew inconsistency, and in one case, an owner who threatened to forward a reviewer's information to their attorney after she left a negative review.
The 95% Google response rate doesn't fix the underlying quality problem. If the same issues keep showing up across 46+ Yelp reviews over two decades, the problem isn't the platform. The Yelp owner response rate is 23.9% (11 of 46), and the responses that do exist are defensive rather than solution-oriented.
Euro Maids Reviews Across Platforms
- Google: 76 reviews at 4.5 stars. 85.5% five-star, 9.2% one-star. 95% owner response rate. 53% of reviews from last 15 months (40 of 76).
- Yelp: 46 reviews at 2.1 stars. 67.4% one-star, 19.6% five-star. 23.9% owner response rate (defensive tone). 28 additional filtered reviews averaging ~1.0 stars. Zero 2- or 3-star reviews on either platform: five-star or one-star, nothing in between.
- BBB: A+ rated, not accredited. Zero reviews, zero complaints.
- Nextdoor: No presence found.
Google/Yelp gap: 2.40 stars. Tied with The Cleaning Authority for the widest in this comparison. Both platforms show the same polarized pattern. The Groupon discount model may explain part of the divergence: promotional customers with lower expectations posting on Google, while customers who paid full price and got the same service post on Yelp.
E&K Cleaning Service Below Average
See platform breakdown
Pros
- Some positive reviews name specific workers (Luba, Edita, Monika). With a dissolved corporation, these may be subcontractors or smaller cleaning companies purchasing leads from the operation rather than direct employees.
- Available 7 days a week with last-minute booking. 48-hour reclean guarantee. A+ BBB rating (accredited since 2012, zero reviews). Broad service range including post-construction, commercial, and move-in/out.

Cons
- Corporation DISSOLVED per Illinois Secretary of State. E & K Cleaning Services, Inc. (File #66033287) was incorporated in 2008, filed one annual report in 2009, and never maintained corporate status. A dissolved corporation cannot legally hold commercial general liability insurance, workers compensation, or bonding in Illinois. Both websites claim "licensed, bonded, and insured."
- 8 separate Google Business listings with different phone numbers (5+) and inconsistent "years in business" claims. Combined ~594+ Google reviews spread across listings, but only one listing (7110 W Higgins Ave, Chicago) has a verified address. Google's guidelines require one listing per location.
- Owner Krzysztof Krzyszowicz also runs Slim Marty (slimmarty.com), a Chicago SEO and web design agency. His degree is in Computer Science from DeVry, not cleaning. Two separate websites (maidschicago.com and cleaning-chicago.com) for the same operation, both built around keyword-rich domain names designed to rank in Google. Owner name appears on neither website.
- La Grange is not listed in their service area on either website. No physical presence in the western suburbs. HQ is at 7110 W Higgins Ave, Chicago (~18 miles northeast of La Grange).
Review and Compliance Red Flags
- Property damage allegations on both platforms: hardwood floor scratches, stainless steel appliance damage, $170 in hidden damage, and one reviewer reported being called names when complaining about damage. Zero owner responses to any of the 24 negative Google reviews, while 29.9% of five-star reviews get responses.
- Review pattern concerns. Four text-less five-star Google reviews posted April 1-2, 2023 (same window). 100% five-star in 2024 (19 reviews) and 2026 YTD (5 reviews) for a company that historically generates 11.8% one-star reviews. An SEO professional running 8 listings has the means to influence review platforms.
- BBB filing dates contradict IL SOS records. One source says "Business Incorporated: 10/31/2010" while IL SOS shows 03-17-2008. Another entry says "Business Started: 3/1/2007." None of these dates align with state records.
The SEO Operation
E&K is the most unusual competitor in this comparison. Owner Krzysztof Krzyszowicz also runs Slim Marty (slimmarty.com), a Chicago SEO and web design agency. His company operates two separate websites with keyword-rich domain names, maintains 8 Google Business listings across Chicago, and the corporation is dissolved per Illinois Secretary of State.
Those 8 Google profiles are the standout red flag. Each listing has different phone numbers and different "years in business" claims. Combined, that's roughly 594+ Google reviews spread across listings pointing to the same operation. Sophia's has one listing with 399+ reviews. E&K has eight listings that collectively inflate apparent review volume without any single listing approaching Sophia's count or rating.
When the business owner is an SEO professional, the websites contain AI-generated content and 807 comment-spam entries on a single blog post, and the operation runs 8 Google listings with different phone numbers, the review volume itself becomes harder to trust. The entire business infrastructure is built on a search marketing strategy, not a cleaning operation. If something goes wrong inside your home, you have no registered business entity to pursue.
What the Reviews Say
Taking the reviews at face value (with the caveats above), E&K averages 4.2 stars from 153 Google reviews with an 83% five-star rate. That sounds reasonable until you look at how the company handles complaints. Of the 24 negative Google reviews (1-2 stars), zero received an owner response. Meanwhile, 29.9% of five-star reviews got a thank-you reply. That selective response pattern suggests deliberate avoidance of complaints rather than lack of awareness.

The negative themes are consistent across 13 years of reviews on both platforms: scheduling failures and no-shows, overcharging relative to work performed, surface-only cleaning that doesn't match what was promised, and move-in/out jobs that arrive without basic supplies. On Yelp, 23.6% of all 148 reviews are one-star. The same complaints repeat from 2012 through 2025 without visible improvement.
The Yelp response rate is 8.8% overall (13 of 148 reviews). When the owner does respond to negative reviews, the tone is defensive rather than solution-oriented. One reviewer reported being sent to debt collection over a $70 dispute for 9 minutes of actual work.
E&K Ratings by Platform
- Google (main listing): 153 reviews at 4.2 stars. 83% five-star, 11.8% one-star. 24.8% owner response rate overall, but 0% to negative reviews. Peak review year: 2023 (27 reviews), declining since.
- Yelp: 148 reviews at 3.8 stars. 65.5% five-star, 23.6% one-star. 8.8% owner response rate. Peak year: 2018 (28 reviews), collapsed to 2 in 2024 and 1 in 2026 YTD. 86% decline in review velocity since peak.
- BBB: A+ rated, accredited since 2012. Zero customer reviews, zero complaints. Owner listed as Mr. Krzysztof Krzyszowicz.
- IL SOS: E & K CLEANING SERVICES, INC. (File #66033287). Status: DISSOLVED. Incorporated 03-17-2008. One annual report filed (2009). Former partner Agata Zgiet now operates separately as YBH Cleaning Services.
- Nextdoor: No presence found.
Google/Yelp gap: 0.4 stars. Both platforms tell a similar story: a majority of satisfied customers with a significant minority reporting the same unresolved problems year after year.
About the 8 Google listings: E&K operates 8 separate Google Business profiles across the Chicago area, each with a different phone number, combining for roughly 594+ reviews. A legitimate cleaning company has one Google Business listing per physical location. Creating multiple listings for the same business is a local SEO tactic designed to appear in Google's map results across multiple neighborhoods simultaneously. Google's own guidelines prohibit this. The owner's background is in SEO (he runs Slim Marty, a Chicago search optimization agency), and only one of the 8 listings has a verified street address. We excluded the additional 7 listings from our Trust Score because they don't represent separate locations, they represent a strategy to manipulate local search results. The 153-review main listing is the only one scored above.
What E&K Cleaning Offers
- Per BBB profile: Air duct cleaning, carpet cleaning, commercial cleaning, disinfecting, maid services, move-in/out cleaning, post-construction, recurring cleaning, sanitizing
- Websites add: deep cleaning, office cleaning, handyman services. Available 7 days a week. Online payments via Zenbooker on maidschicago.com.
Freshmint Cleaning Service Below Average
See platform breakdown
Pros
- Active IL SOS registration (FRESHMINT CLEANING SERVICE LLC, File #05150663, organized 2015, annual report filed February 2026). Properly registered, which is more than several competitors in this comparison can say.
- Long-term client loyalty. One Google reviewer reports 15+ years with Paula. Another reports over a decade. That retention suggests genuinely good work for the clients she keeps.
- Owner cleans homes personally alongside staff (Maria, Ula). European hotel industry background. Available 7 days a week, 6am-10pm. Clean safety record across all platforms.

Cons
- 7 total reviews across Google and Yelp after 10+ years of claimed operation. That's less than one review per year. The 5.0 Google rating is from 4 reviews. Too thin for consumer confidence.
- No mention of insurance, bonding, or background checks anywhere on the website. Zero certifications of any kind, no cleaning checklist or process description, and no satisfaction guarantee stated.
- Business address is a shared coworking suite (New Office America, 2021 Midwest Rd, Suite 200, Oak Brook). This is a building where multiple businesses rent desk space and a mailing address. There's no dedicated Freshmint office, no storage for cleaning supplies on-site. It's a legitimate business address, but it signals a very small operation compared to companies with their own space.
- Green cleaning page returns a 404 error. The website advertises eco-friendly cleaning as a service, but the page explaining what that means is broken. If green cleaning matters to you, ask Paula directly what products she uses.
- One detailed 1-star Yelp review with 6 photos describing incomplete work, an excuse that the "fridge was too cold to clean," and an owner who unilaterally decided the refund amount. Three reviews is too small to draw conclusions, but the one negative is specific and documented.
Why 7 Reviews in 10 Years Matters
Freshmint may deliver excellent cleaning. The long-term clients who praise Paula by name are genuine. One Google reviewer reports 15+ years with her. Another says over a decade. That kind of client retention suggests real quality for the people she works with.
The problem is that 7 reviews across 10+ years of operation gives you almost nothing to evaluate before handing over your house keys. Compare that to companies in this list with hundreds of reviews where you can read dozens of experiences and spot patterns. With Freshmint, you're relying on trust that you can't verify through public data: no insurance documentation on the website, no certifications, no background check claims, and a website that doesn't appear in Google search results. Her clients come from personal referrals, not from anything you can research on your own.
Freshmint Reviews by Platform
- Google: 4 reviews at 5.0 stars. All positive, all with text. Named cleaners: Paula (owner), Maria, Ula.

- BBB: No listing found.
- IL SOS: FRESHMINT CLEANING SERVICE LLC (File #05150663). Active. Organized 02-11-2015. Agent: Paula G Kot.
- Nextdoor: No presence found.
What Freshmint Cleaning Offers
- Residential cleaning, commercial cleaning, floor cleaning (tile, wood, stone), green cleaning (page 404). Free estimates. Hours: Mon-Sun 6am-10pm.

Pros
- Perfect 5.0 Google rating. The 13 customers who've reviewed are happy. Real portfolio photos on the website show actual cleaning work across multiple service types.
- 20+ years of claimed experience. Focused service area of 10-11 western suburb cities. Pet-friendly emphasis. Listed #2 in Google Maps for "cleaning services la grange il."
- Clean safety record across all platforms. No theft, damage, or dispute allegations in any review.

Cons
- No Illinois Secretary of State business registration found under any variation of the business name. Without a registered entity, the operator cannot legally carry commercial general liability insurance, workers compensation, or be bonded in Illinois.
- Zero mentions of insurance, bonding, licensing, or background checks on any page of the website. The career page asks applicants about criminal history but says nothing about the company conducting actual background checks.
- Owner's last name not disclosed anywhere. The Google Maps listing shows 1032 LaGrange Rd, Suite #10, but no address appears on the website itself. Gmail address (JustynaCleaning78@gmail.com) as primary business contact. If something goes wrong, who do you pursue? A first name and a Gmail address.
- 13 Google reviews in 20+ claimed years, all arriving in a single burst: 7 of 13 posted in June 2024 alone, 5 within a 6-day span (June 20-26). One reviewer is named "Justyna Kolasa," a text-less 5-star review that appears to be the owner reviewing her own business. No Yelp, no BBB, no Nextdoor. No independent platform to cross-reference quality.
- Inconsistent experience claims: "25 years" on the About page, "20 years" on the Deep Cleaning page. Stock photography on the homepage despite having real portfolio photos. "Expert Employees" claimed but no names, photos, or credentials provided.
Why a Perfect 5.0 Doesn't Tell the Full Story
A perfect 5.0 from 13 reviews sounds impressive until you look at the pattern. Seven of the 13 reviews arrived in June 2024, with 5 posted in a 6-day window (June 20-26). One of those is from "Justyna Kolasa," a text-less 5-star rating that appears to be the owner reviewing her own business. Several other reviewers cite long-term relationships (8, 14, 15, and 20 years), which suggests these are real clients asked to leave reviews all at once rather than organic reviews accumulated over time.
Getting 13 five-star reviews from friends, family, and long-term clients isn't hard. It also isn't the same as earning reviews organically from a broad customer base over 20 years of operation. Without a registered business, insurance, or even a last name, the review profile is the only thing a consumer can check, and it doesn't hold up to scrutiny.
Justyna's Reviews by Platform
- Google: 13 reviews at 5.0 stars. 12 of 13 posted in 2024, 7 in June alone. One reviewer ("Justyna Kolasa") appears to be the owner. Listed as #2 for "cleaning services la grange il."
- Yelp: No listing found.
- BBB: No listing found.
- IL SOS: No registration found under any variation.

Cosmic / Carmen's Cleaning Not Recommended
See platform breakdown
Pros
- Long-term client loyalty. One Yelp reviewer reports 16+ years with Carmen. Named cleaners (Carmen, Julia, Blanca) praised by name. Clean safety record across all platforms.
- Donates cleaning services to women undergoing cancer treatment through Cleaning for a Reason, a national nonprofit. Palmer House Hilton housekeeping background. Angi Super Service Award 2023.
- BBB A- rated with zero complaints on file. Claims insured, bonded, and background checked on the website. 10 employees per BBB.

Cons
- No Google Business Profile exists. Zero Google reviews after 15+ years of claimed operation. No Google Maps presence. The dominant review platform has no data for this company.
- Two different business names creating consumer confusion. Website says "Cosmic Cleaning Services." Yelp says "Carmen's Cleaning Services." BBB lists both. The about page starts with "Carmen's Cleaning" in the headline and switches to "Cosmic Cleaning Services" in the first sentence. Logo filename is still "CarmensCleaning-logo-square.jpg."
- No IL SOS registration found under either name. The BBB alternate name "COSMIC CLEANING SEV. LLC" implies an LLC was filed at some point, but nothing is currently active.
- Only 4 reviews across all platforms in 15+ years. Inconsistent founding dates: 2005 (Yelp bio), 2007 (BBB), 2010 (website). Stock photography throughout (iStock filenames in source code). No physical address on the website (BBB lists Summit Argo, IL). Credit card only payments.
The Verification Problem
"Cosmic Cleaning Services" is the website. "Carmen's Cleaning Services" is the Yelp listing. The BBB lists both. A consumer searching "Cosmic Cleaning reviews" won't find the Yelp reviews. Searching "Carmen's Cleaning reviews" won't find the website.
The 4 Yelp reviewers describe exactly what you want from a cleaning service: long-term loyalty, personal relationships, attention to detail. Carmen also donates cleaning services through Cleaning for a Reason, which is genuinely admirable. But 4 reviews and no Google profile after 15+ years means most consumers have no way to verify this business exists beyond the website.
Carmen's Cleaning Reviews by Platform
- Google: No Business Profile found. Zero reviews.
- Yelp: 4 reviews at 5.0 stars (listed under "Carmen's Cleaning Services"). All positive, named cleaners praised.

Pros
- 4.9 Google stars from 28 reviews with no theft or damage allegations. Several reviewers describe satisfactory cleaning quality.
- Services listed include recurring, move-in/move-out, post-construction, and commercial cleaning.

Cons
- Corporation DISSOLVED September 12, 2025. DAISY'S PERFECT CLEANING SERVICES, INC. (File #74647693) was incorporated April 3, 2024, and dissolved 17 months later. Never filed an annual report. A dissolved corporation cannot legally hold insurance, bonding, or workers comp.
- False BBB badge displayed on homepage. The website shows the BBB "Accredited Business" badge with the torch logo. BBB's actual record: D+ rating, NOT accredited, one complaint filed and unanswered.
- Claims "In Business since 2014" on homepage. IL SOS shows incorporation April 3, 2024. No prior entity found under any variation of the business name. That's a 10-year fabrication of business history.
- Review pattern: 13 of 28 reviews (46%) posted in a 48-hour window (June 2-3, 2024), the same month the corporation was incorporated. An unbroken 27-review five-star streak before the single complaint. 96.4% five-star with zero middle ratings (no 2, 3, or 4-star reviews).
- About Us page returns 404. Contact Us page (/contact-us/) also 404. Website title claims "#1 Chicago House Cleaning and Maid Service" with zero supporting evidence. "Desinfecting" (misspelled) appears on the homepage.
- Owner not identified on the website. Registered agent address is a residential apartment in Lyons, IL. No mention of insurance, bonding, or background checks anywhere on the site. No Yelp presence, no Nextdoor. Service area doesn't include Lyons (registered address) or La Grange.
The False Credentials
Daisy's appeared in Google AI Mode results as a local competitor, which is what prompted us to investigate. The review pattern raises immediate questions: 13 of 28 reviews were posted in a 48-hour window on June 2-3, 2024, the same month the corporation was incorporated. That's 46% of the company's lifetime reviews in two days. Another 7 arrived in August 2024. After that initial burst, review velocity collapsed by 95%.
The corporation lasted 17 months before dissolution. Meanwhile, the homepage displays a BBB "Accredited Business" badge that's false: BBB shows D+ and not accredited. On top of that, the "In Business since 2014" claim adds 10 years to the company's actual documented history. Two of the three main navigation pages are broken (About Us and Contact Us both 404). Zero mention of insurance, bonding, or background checks anywhere on the site.
The single one-star review (Lori Di Lella, October 2025) describes paying for bathroom, bedroom, and kitchen cleaning but receiving only floor mopping and air freshener. She emailed the company (no response) and filed a BBB complaint (no response). The owner eventually replied on Google, blaming missed emails while simultaneously monitoring the Google review. The website is still live and actively accepting quote requests from consumers who have no way to know the corporation behind it is dissolved.

Molly Maid of the Southwest Suburbs Below Average
See platform breakdown
Pros
- 179 Google reviews at 4.7 stars with 89.9% five-star rate. Second-highest Google review count in this comparison. 83% owner response rate shows active reputation management.
- Franchise-level systems: 44-Point Checklist, background checks, insurance claims, satisfaction guarantee. Neighborly corporate backing adds an accountability layer independent operators don't have.
- Active IL SOS registration (MEDELY HOME SERVICES, INC., incorporated 2022, annual report filed 2025). Online booking available through the national website.

Cons
- HQ is at 700 W Jefferson St in Shorewood, IL, approximately 30 miles southwest of La Grange near Joliet. La Grange sits at the far northeastern edge of a 100+ city service area. Owner Eric Hansen's registered address is in Morris, IL, 65 miles from La Grange. This is not a locally rooted operation.
- Two theft allegations in Yelp reviews. A 2024 reviewer reported medications stolen from a widowed senior citizen, with a police report filed and management callback promised but never received. A 2020 reviewer reported catching a cleaner in her jewelry box and a diamond ring going missing. Neither received an owner response on Yelp.
- A 2015 Yelp reviewer reported $10,000 in damages that the company refused to accept liability for. She paid $1,500 out of pocket for repairs and continued using the service because she needed help.
The Franchise Identity Problem
- No BBB listing under "Molly Maid of the Southwest Suburbs and Three Rivers," the actual registered entity name. The only BBB listing that appears for the area is under a different franchise name, "Molly Maid of Southwest Cook County" (agent: Susan L. Dawson). A third entity, "Molly Maid of Oak Park and the Midwestern Suburbs," also operates nearby. A La Grange homeowner has no way to know which franchise will actually service their home, and therefore no way to look up the right BBB complaint history before hiring.
- March 2024 cluster: four one-star Google reviews in a single month (Emilio, Patricia, Maksym, Tess) describing overcharging ($400 quote becoming $560), incomplete deep cleans, and follow-up failures. Copy-paste error in one owner response addressed a customer by the wrong name.
- Illinois Secretary of State records show at least three active Molly Maid franchises with overlapping coverage near La Grange: "Southwest Suburbs and Three Rivers" (Eric Hansen, Shorewood), "Southwest Cook County" / "SW Cook County" (Susan L. Dawson), and "Oak Park and the Midwestern Suburbs." For a corporation with hundreds of locations nationally, this naming ambiguity doesn't look accidental. If one franchise is shuttered, another can absorb the territory without the consumer ever knowing. You can't research reviews, complaints, or owner accountability for a franchise location you can't even identify. The La Grange page on mollymaid.com is a generic template with zero local content, no local reviews, and no named local manager.
The Distance Problem
Molly Maid of the Southwest Suburbs is headquartered at 700 W Jefferson St in Shorewood, near Joliet, about 30 miles southwest of La Grange. La Grange sits at the far northeastern edge of this franchise's 100+ city territory. If there's a problem requiring a manager visit or same-day re-clean, the response time is inherently longer than a company based in town.
For context: Sophia's HQ is at 200 East Ave in La Grange proper. MaidPro's office is on LaGrange Road. The Cleaning Authority is in Westmont (8 miles). Molly Maid is 30 miles away, and the owner lives in Morris, 65 miles out. The La Grange location page on mollymaid.com exists, but it's a template with the city name swapped into headings. No local photos, no local reviews, no named local team.
What Molly Maid Customers Say
The 179 Google reviews at 4.7 stars are real volume, and most customers are satisfied. The 83% owner response rate is among the better marks in this comparison. Franchise-level systems (44-Point Checklist, background checks, satisfaction guarantee) provide a baseline that many independent operators don't offer.
The negative reviews, though, describe more serious issues than most competitors. The theft and damage allegations on Yelp are the most severe in this comparison. On Google, the March 2024 cluster of four one-star reviews in a single month points to a specific operational breakdown: pricing disputes where quoted ranges became the maximum charge, deep cleans described as incomplete, and follow-up promises that went unfulfilled. One owner response addressed the customer by the wrong name, a copy-paste error that's small but revealing about the care behind those replies.
Yelp tells a different story. Only 10 reviews at 3.5 stars, with 30% one-star. The owner response rate drops to 10% on Yelp (1 of 10 reviews). The two theft allegations received no owner response on Yelp. Even a satisfied five-star Yelp reviewer noted she gets a different crew every visit and has to re-explain her preferences each time.
Molly Maid Ratings by Platform
- Google: 179 reviews at 4.7 stars. 89.9% five-star, 5.0% one-star. 83% owner response rate. Review velocity surged after 2022 ownership change: 54 reviews in 2024 alone (30% of all-time total). 90% response rate to negative reviews on Google.
- Yelp: 10 reviews at 3.5 stars. 60% five-star, 30% one-star, zero middle-ground reviews (no 3- or 4-star). 10% owner response rate (1 of 10). Two theft allegations and one $10,000 damage claim.
- BBB: No listing under "Molly Maid of the Southwest Suburbs and Three Rivers" (the registered entity). A BBB listing exists for "Molly Maid of Southwest Cook County" (different agent, Susan L. Dawson). A third franchise, "Molly Maid of Oak Park and the Midwestern Suburbs," also covers the area. With three overlapping franchise names and no way to determine which one services your address, looking up complaint history before hiring is effectively impossible.
- IL SOS: MEDELY HOME SERVICES, INC. (File #73885493). Active. Incorporated 08-02-2022. Agent: Eric Hansen, Morris, IL. Annual report filed 07-09-2025.
- Nextdoor: No presence found.
Google/Yelp gap: 1.2 stars. The Yelp sample is small (10 reviews) but heavily polarized: five-star or one-star, nothing in between. The ownership changed in 2022, so pre-2022 reviews reflect a different operation under Thomas F. Graczyk.

The Maids, Western Suburbs (Westmont) Not Recommended
See platform breakdown
Pros
- National brand name. The Maids International has good franchise locations in other markets.
- IL SOS entity (THE MAIDS OF THE SOUTHWESTERN SUBURBS, File #67796926) is technically active. Office at 825 N. Cass Ave, Suite 301, Westmont, same building as The Cleaning Authority (Suite 315).

Cons
- No visible owner information on the location page. The maids.com/135/ location page has no owner bio, no owner photo, and no owner name visible to visitors. The name "Magie Wilson" only appears in the backend source code (visible if you right-click and inspect the page), but the front-end section where it should display is completely empty. A location page that hides its owner identity while still accepting quote requests tells you everything about how actively this franchise is managed.
- Three different owner names across three platforms. BBB lists Vanessa Evans. The website lists Magie Wilson. IL SOS shows Lisa G Rowley as agent. None of these names match each other.
- Yelp has flagged this location as "Closed." 4 Google reviews total, none in over 5 years. 1 Facebook review at 1.0 stars. The location page doesn't appear in Google search results for any cleaning-related terms.
- Quote form is still active on a dormant page. A consumer filling it out has no idea who would actually show up, or whether anyone is operating at this location at all. The information is likely routed to another Maids franchise location.

A Dormant Franchise Location
The Maids in the Western Suburbs is a case study in how national franchises sometimes leave dormant location pages online to capture leads. At first glance, the website looks active. It even lists La Grange in the service area. But every piece of data suggests this location is either shuttered or between franchisees.
The missing owner information is the first sign. The name "Magie Wilson" exists in the page's source code but nothing displays on the actual page, meaning the section was built but never completed. Three different owner names across three platforms means nobody has updated the records. The Yelp listing is marked "Closed." Four Google reviews in total, none recent. If you fill out the quote form, your information is likely routed to a different Maids franchise you never intended to contact.
The Maids Westmont Reviews by Platform
- Google: 4 reviews at 4.0 stars. None in 5+ years.
- Yelp: Marked "Closed."
- Facebook: 1 review at 1.0 stars.
- BBB: Not accredited, no rating. File opened 2003. Listed owner: Vanessa Evans.
- IL SOS: THE MAIDS OF THE SOUTHWESTERN SUBURBS (File #67796926), active. Agent: Lisa G Rowley.
What Happens When Your Cleaning Company Disappears
Cleaning services in the La Grange and western suburbs area operate on two business models. Family-owned local companies like Sophia's, Best Maids, and Helping Hands. And national franchise brands with local franchisees: Molly Maid, The Cleaning Authority, The Maids, MaidPro.
When a franchise location fails, something specific happens. Your cleaning team loses their jobs. Your recurring schedule disappears. Prepaid credits or deposits may be lost. The corporate brand reassigns the territory to a new franchisee who starts from scratch with no knowledge of your home, your preferences, or your alarm code.
This isn't hypothetical. We pulled the data from Illinois public records.
Illinois Franchise Failure Rates (March 2026)
- MaidPro: 9 failed, 1 active. 90% failure rate.
- The Maids: 4+ failed, 3+ active. 57%+ failure rate.
- The Cleaning Authority: 4 failed, 11 active. 27% failure rate.
- Molly Maid: 5 failed, 14 active. 26% failure rate.
Total: 22+ failed franchise cleaning locations in Illinois.
MaidPro's 90% failure rate is the most striking. Nine franchisees across Illinois bought into the system, opened locations, and closed. Only one remains. The La Grange location is it. For Cook County and DuPage County homeowners considering a franchise, that track record is worth knowing.
A family-owned local company doesn't carry this risk. Sophia's Cleaning Service has been operating continuously since 1984 with the same family in the same community. No territory transfers, no franchise turnover, no corporate reshuffling. The people who answer the phone today are the same people who answered it last year and the year before that.
How a Smart Homeowner Evaluates a Cleaning Service
Most people pick a cleaning company by Googling "best cleaning service near me," scanning the star ratings, and calling whoever looks good. That approach works fine about 60% of the time. The other 40% is where the problems live.
Here's how to evaluate a cleaning company the way an informed homeowner would, using the same process we used to build this guide. Every step takes less than 5 minutes and uses free, public tools.
Verify Insurance Yourself
Ask for a Certificate of Insurance (COI) with specific coverage amounts. "We're insured" on a website means nothing without documentation. A legitimate company will email you a COI within 24 hours. If they hesitate, that tells you everything. Sophia's carries $1M general liability, $1M workers comp, and a $25K bond. Ask any company you're considering for the same specifics.
Check Both Google and Yelp
Two companies in this comparison have a 2.40-star gap between platforms. That's not noise, that's a pattern. Google reviews skew positive because companies can (and do) solicit happy customers. Yelp reviews skew negative because the platform filters aggressively. Read both. The truth is usually somewhere in the middle, and the gap between them tells you how consistent the experience actually is.
Look Up Their IL Secretary of State Registration
Go to ilsos.gov and search the business name. If nothing comes up, that company has no registered entity in Illinois and cannot legally hold commercial insurance, bonding, or workers comp. Takes 30 seconds. One company in this comparison claims "licensed, bonded, and insured" on a dissolved corporation.
Ask Who's Coming Into Your Home
Background checks, vetting process, how long cleaners have been with the company. These are people who will be alone inside your home for hours. Sophia's cleaners stay 5 to 20+ years. Some competitors use subcontractors they've met once. The difference matters, especially for families in Hinsdale, Burr Ridge, Oak Brook, and other western suburbs where homes are larger and cleaning visits are longer.
Watch the Review Velocity
A company gaining reviews is a company actively serving and satisfying customers. A company whose reviews dried up two years ago may have lost its customer base. Sophia's went from 92 reviews in 2024 to 157 in 2025, a 70% increase. Several competitors in this comparison are trending in the opposite direction. Velocity tells you what's happening now, not what happened five years ago.
Bonus: Call and See What Happens
How fast do they pick up? Do you get a real person or a voicemail? Can they answer basic questions about pricing, insurance, and their team? The phone call is the best 5-minute test of any service company. If they're slow to respond before you're a customer, imagine what happens when they already have your deposit.
Questions La Grange Homeowners Ask Most
Depends on home size, condition, and service type. Professional cleaning services in the Chicago western suburbs typically charge between $52 and $94 per hour. Sophia's averages $52/hour across all services. Franchise competitors in the La Grange area typically range from $72 to $94/hour for comparable services.
Online platforms show individual cleaner rates of $22 to $29/hour. Those rates reflect solo cleaners without verified insurance, background checks, or team backup. Professional services cost more because you're paying for accountability, not just labor.
Two pricing options are common with local companies: flat-rate whole-home pricing with a room-by-room breakdown, or a custom plan based on your priorities and budget where you choose which rooms and tasks matter most.
Evaluating and Verifying Cleaning Companies
The Bottom Line: What This Comparison Actually Tells You
Now, none of these companies are completely bad. And none of them, including Sophia's, are completely perfect. Every company on this list has real people doing real work for real customers in La Grange and the surrounding western suburbs. Some of those customers are happy. Some aren't.
What the Trust Score Actually Measures
What the Trust Score does is measure risk. The higher the score, the lower your chance of ending up in the nightmare scenario: the cancelled appointments, the unresponsive owner, the damaged floor nobody takes responsibility for, the insurance claim that goes nowhere because the company's registration is dissolved.
That gap between a 9.5 and a 1.3 isn't the gap between "great" and "terrible." It's the gap between a company with verified infrastructure, accountability, and a track record of fixing problems, versus a company where you're rolling the dice on whether anyone will pick up the phone if something goes wrong.
The Real Reason You Started Looking in the First Place
Whether you need recurring cleaning to keep up with a busy household in Hinsdale, move-in/move-out cleaning before a deadline in Downers Grove, post-construction cleanup after a renovation in Burr Ridge, or just a one-time deep clean to reset your Oak Brook home, the whole point is to make life easier. Not to create a new problem you have to manage.
Of course, hiring a company with a low Trust Score doesn't guarantee a bad experience. But it does mean more of the risk falls on you: verifying their insurance yourself, hoping the franchise doesn't close, hoping the owner responds if something breaks. Hiring a company with a high Trust Score means more of that risk has already been handled.
And the math is simple. A reliable cleaning company at $52/hour that shows up every time, does the job right, and answers the phone when you call will always cost less than a cheaper company that cancels, damages something, or disappears after three months. As I mentioned earlier, the most expensive cleaning service is the one you have to hire twice.
Why Trust This Review: Who Wrote It and Why It Matters
My name is Andre Kazimierski. I grew up in the western suburbs, own a home in the La Grange neighborhood, and have been running Sophia's Cleaning Service and managing some of the largest home service operations in the Chicago western suburbs for over 20 years. I've personally contacted or used many of the services on this list as part of ongoing market research. I know exactly what separates a well-run cleaning company from one that cuts corners, because I've spent two decades building the systems that prevent it.
In fact, no algorithm can do what this page does. Google surfaces companies based on review signals, proximity, and ad budgets, but doesn't verify business registrations. Yelp filters reviews through a black box. Nextdoor counts clicks, not quality. None of those platforms cross-reference BBB complaint records, check whether a corporation is dissolved, or measure owner response rates across multiple platforms. This guide does all of that, with every data point publicly verifiable.
That said, I own one of the 13 companies on this list. You should factor that in. I've been transparent about it from the top of this page, scored Sophia's using the same formula, and self-deducted points where the data warranted it. The goal is to give La Grange homeowners the most honest comparison available, written by someone who actually understands the industry from the inside and lives in the neighborhood. Expert knowledge plus local homeowner, with full transparency. That's the standard no review platform can match.
Do Your Homework
So use this guide as a starting point. Check the data yourself. Every number in this comparison is publicly verifiable. And when you're ready, pick the company whose Trust Score matches the level of risk you're comfortable with.
